Janusz Skowron to perform at Market Hall
Polish concert pianist Janusz Skowron returns to Peterborough for an Evening of Romantic Piano Music at Market Hall on Friday December 2nd at 7:30pm.
Mr. Skowron has performed extensively at major concert halls in Europe and North America, including Carnegie Hall and Chicago Cultural Centre among others. He is a Piano Professor at the Academy of Music in Krakow, Poland after having taught at University of Western Ontario and Musik Konservatoria in Jakobstad, Finland.
The New York Times has praised Mr. Skowron as “...a pianist of physical ability and musical
intelligence...”.
Mr. Skowron is no stranger to the Peterborough music scene, having performed numerous recitals and masterclasses in the city, most recently with local cellist and teacher Mateusz Swoboda.
Mr. Skowron lived and worked in Canada for a number of years before returning to Poland and remarks “I love Canada very much and performing here. The weather is sometimes cold, but people are very warm.”
The concert will include works by Schumann, Liszt and Chopin and is presented and sponsored by the local music program Accademia Musica.
